Spring is here and you know what that means? Outdoor track season has begun!!! Kentucky Wesleyan’s track team opened up its outdoor season by traveling to Rhodes College, a D3 school located in Memphis, Tennessee. The team went up against some tough competition. Along with teams within their conference. The Panthers had several personal bests as well as KWC records being broken on the weekend of March 17 and 18.

On the women’s side, these were the following teams/individuals that placed or moved up in the KWC Top 5 Record List.

In the 4×100 Meter Relay, B. Haase, T. Bentley, T. Payton and T. Mason finished fourth overall with a time of 49.44, which also qualified as the KWC new record. The 400 Meter Dash, ran by Payton, qualified as #2 on the All-Time KWC Outdoor Record for this event with a time of 1:01.52.

We had three women run the 100 meter dash with Bentley finishing with a 12.58 as the #2 KWC All-Time Individual, Haase finishing with a 12.86 as the #3 KWC All-Time Individuals, and Mason finishing with a 13.23 as the #4 KWC All-Time Individual. The same three women ran the 200 Meter Dash, seeing Bentley as #2 KWC Leader with a 25.62, Haase as #3 KWC Leader with a 26.81, and Mason as #4 KWC Leader with a 27.68.

In the 3K Steeplechase, Rachel Keeley finished first with a time of 11.41.01, a KWC record and she had a 28 second PR as well. In the Hammer, Crystal Hopkins finished 2nd with a 48.72m (159’10), which is now the KWC record. Cornelia Thomas finished right behind Hopkins in 3rd with a throw of 45.77m (150’2), which was also better than the old KWC record. Sarah Johnson threw a 30.75m (100’11), making her #3 KWC Individual.

In the Shot Put, Hopkins finished 5th with a throw of 12.93m (42’5). In the Discus, Cornelia Thomas finished 8th with a 38.14m (125’1), only 8’ off the school record and Sarah Johnson finished with a 30.75m (100’11) as #2 KWC All-Time Leader. In the Long Jump, A. Hardin finished 8th with a jump of 4.83m (15’10) making another KWC record. Lastly, in the women’s 4×800 Meter Relay, E. Wilson, S. Browning, R. Keeley and T. Bentley finished 5th with a time of 10:32.93 making another KWC record.

On the men’s side these were the relay teams/individuals who placed or moved into the KWC Top 5 Record List.

In the Mile Run, P. Quire’s time converted to #2 on KWC All-Time List. In the 100 Meter Dash, J. Glenn finished 4th with a time of 10.60, which is now the KWC record and is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. In the 400 Hurdles, D. Goldring finished 4th with a time of 56.18, only .05 off his own school record.

In the 200 Dash, Glenn finished 8th with a #2 All-Time KWC record. The 5K, ran by S. Applegate in a time of 16:16.60 made a new KWC record. The 3k Steeplechase ran by T. Cole in a time of 10:36.54 is the new KWC record and T. Dobbs finished 5th All-Time in the KWC records with a time of 11:16.18. In the 4×800 Meter Relay, P. Quire, B. Qualls, T. Cole, and J. Carter finished 7th with a time of 8:27.02, which is now the KWC record.

The Javelin, Hammer, and Shot Put were all thrown by A. Martin. In the Javelin, he threw a 41.30m (135’6), making him #3 KWC leader. In the Hammer, he threw a 31.25m (102’6) which is also #3 KWC leader. In the Shot Put, Martin threw a 10.23m (33’6.75), making him #5 KWC leader.

Lastly, in the Triple Jump, D. Goldring finished 1st with a jump of 13.67m (44’10), which is now the KWC record.
